Office to dinner. One pair.
How to pick a sneaker that survives a review meeting and still looks right at 9pm.

1. Start with the shape
Low and slim beats chunky. A terrace or clean court shoe sits neatly under a trouser hem, which is what makes it read as smart.
If your office is formal, check the policy first. A great sneaker is still a sneaker.
2. Pick the quiet colourway
White, off white, black or a muted suede. One accent colour is plenty. Gum soles add warmth without looking loud.
3. Mind the hem
Straight or tapered trousers that just touch the shoe look intentional. Pooling fabric over a chunky sole does not.
Pairs worth a look
Prices are dated checks for the pictured colourway. Advice combines retailer specifications and editorial judgement. We have not wear tested these pairs.
